Expensive, reconfigured cubes now sit empty.

A few months ago, the blog uncovered a reconfiguration within Facilities Operations (also known as Facilities AND Operations) intended to alter the work environment of seven individuals. The work was performed during the day and with all of the minor complications normally experienced with such an undertaking. No one stuck around to watch the reconfiguration take place, so no one on staff will ever be able to perform future reconfigurations without help from outside vendors.

It has come to the attention of the blog that the employees that were to benefit from this recent reconfiguration just relocated to the District warehouse, leaving their new, $11,000.00 cubicles vacant. So, not only was it excessive to blow $11,000.00 on reconfiguring space that will soon become Scriber Lake Alternative High School, the beneficiaries of this expenditure are no longer working in the ESC.

Perhaps the plan is to start a museum for government waste. Visitors could donate a dollar and walk through the new cubicles and experience the less-than-standard space that was constructed for Custodial Services staff.

Perhaps the plan is to absorb more board member pet projects. To complete the “Powerful” set, they could start up “Powerful Purloiners” and apply for grant funding. They could call it a “think tank” and concoct new and mind-teasing ways to pilfer public funds. If Sonntag ever loses an election, the District could tell the next real auditor that all of the corruption was actually just research. Powerful Purloiners could be geared toward crafting district press releases that constantly stretch the limits of creative writing. They could dream up new ways to bamboozle an unengaged public. They could assemble words into new and exciting ways to say “It’s for the Kids.”

To be honest, the cubes are probably empty because no one wants to work in such a depressing environment. The department has definitely gone through a radical transformation. The resulting climate must be terribly oppressive for staff to prefer working in a dark and musty warehouse. But then, I’m just speculating.

Maybe at Halloween this unused "reconfigured area" could be turned into a Haunted House. (I love Haunted Houses!) If they charged $1.00 a person it could generate some income--not $11,000 but something anyway!

Hey, does the Enterprise know about this?

The Enterprise reads the blog.

If no one contacts them (other than me) they will naturally and rightfully conclude that no one cares about the manner in which public money is being wasted.

During these difficult economic times, we should all be watching the money we spend - especially if it isn't ours.

I was told that the warehouse has asbestos in the floors and in the ceilings.
The district could of used that $11,000 to clean up the mess at the warehouse.

who reads the Enterprise?
who reads the hearld?
who reads any paper now?
who/kids know how to read anyway.

If we got people like this running our school systems.

I could never figure out why the ESC work stations had to be moved in the first place. I worked in a building (school), and when I had to go to ESC to meet with various employees, I would find that they had moved! It would make sense to move things around as needs occur, but not as often as they choose to move stations. Perhaps "they" have nothing else to do?? The money spent on these kind of projects is not wise spending, however, it is tax payers money, so do they care? I think NOT!

It must be amusing to the district that they can waste money and nobody does anything about it. That they can remove quality programs and nobody questions it. It's like, "Is anybody there? Does anybody care?" Apparently not the parents and tax payers who can recall the school board and dismiss the "educational leaders."

But then there would be nobody to babysit that horrible, worthless, lazy, group over there at the warehouse.Believe me, they have to justify a couple of management positions. What better place to start than the warehouse? " We'll just assume these 6 or 7 employees. Make things look good."

I just can't believe they're spending the $$ to move the district to a brand new location. That makes no sense. Honestly, what is so wrong with the old one? Do they really NEED to move? If everyone has to tighten their belts in light of limited state funding, why can't they just stay where they are? And use the cubicles, while they're at it.

how about we cut more jobs and give the money to the new warehouse supervisor. I heard he got a $30,000 dollar raise can someone verify this for the tax payers.
If this is true ........

I agree with writer "Sonics Take Two", why move? The current ESC is a beautiful building, well built and functional. Perhaps they have nothing better to do than to make "deals" and spend taxpayer money. "If it ain't broke, why fix it"?

why is chuck penney the only manager getting laid off?
Its not to save money" thats a joke because the new managers getting a $30,000 bump in pay.

I am curious to know who the new "Manager" is at the Warehouse. Anyone know his/her name?

It is my understanding that Porn King's job was eliminated. Has the position been posted? If the job has been eliminated, then how can someone else be receiving $30,000 more than Chuckles?

I have not explored this topic much but my understanding is that a current member of staff has had his salary topped off in exchange for managing the Warehouse.

I have heard it is Bob Hansen. If this is true, then he now earns more than his boss.
