Good news is getting harder and harder to come by.

Please join me in congratulating our excellent food service staff, under the leadership of Director Barbara Lloyd, for an outstanding report from the just completed federal audit! The auditor said she has NEVER given such a clean audit report, and we can take great pride in knowing our students are receiving nutritious, safe, and efficient food service from highly qualified, professional staff. (I became a little nervous when she started talking about how they could have a great consulting business helping other districts get up to speed!)

Imagine such a gushing letter being written by the Superintendent about the financial audit of the District. First off, there cannot be a clean audit and no one will take pride in the findings. No one will be seeking advice from Business and Operations - unless they seek to abuse staff, give away millions, favor friends and relatives and avoid following board policy while staying in control of a district.

As a district, we have one area that requires corrective action – products available in ASB vending machines and student stores during meal periods were found to be out of compliance with federal regulations. Barb will be working with Ken and the appropriate secondary principals to develop an action plan to address those concerns.

Remove the offending vending machines and send them back to the distributor. Sort of like the removal of corrupt officials. Pack them up and send them to an organization that appreciates rotten teeth and guts.

It’s great to have good news to share, and to get to brag about the results of a lot of very hard work and close attention to detail on the part of Barb and her staff. Please join me in thanking them!

Yes, good news is getting harder and harder to come by.

the only reason for taking vending machines out of the schools. IS TO MAKE MORE MONEY FOR FOODSERVICE! DOES FOODSERVICE GIVE MONEY BACK TO THE KIDS? HELL NO, IT GOES IN A PURSE SOMEWHERE! ASB, NEEDS TO FIGHT THIS ONE! NEXT IT WILL BE YOUR STORES JUST WAIT!

As a general rule the foodservice department has done a great job. With specific respect to the audit, perhaps their deparmental autonomy has made the task a bit easier.

Why so much emphasis on congratulations? If everyone is honest, conscientious and capably doing the job for which they were hired, why is this email deemed appropriate or necessary? If we fear auditors will uncover our incompetence and wrong doing we have gotten away with it if we have received a clear audit report and we should bask in the success of our pulling this over on them. On the other hand, a good audit is what we should always expect and those responsible have already been amply rewarded. They are compensated by way of their salary. It is important that we all receive reminders that our good work is appreciated and it would appear Barbara Lloyd has satisfied meeting Federal expectations. Is this perhaps just some way for Marla to convey her worry over what is taking place in her immediate department and to wipe away some of that sweat that is forming on her brow?

Please help me here.... I have always thought that the vending machines in schools were run by the ASB and all the profits went back to kids via ASB. Are you telling me that Food Service places the machines in the buldings and reaps the profit? Heaven help us!!

Just wait folks, You know about Barbs bistro right? At the new ESC the bistro will controll you like a mad cow. You will only be able to eat at Barb's Bistro and nothing else, you will not eat any other food in the building except the food you buy at Barbs Bistro!
Shouldn't that money go torward the kids?
Why does this money just disappear?
This is a crime folks!

Now if she could just get control of the baboon below her, the district would be in better shape. My my my my my my um um my uh thing on my um hip has this thing on it and the doctor said he would give me these pills so that you know that thing might uh go away. But if those things a don't really work he said he could do an MRI or whatever and it might require surgery to remove that thing thats causing that other thing to hurt. So I guess I'll just see you guys Monday maybe. But I'm not on administrative leave.

It's not administrative leave it's an exempt employee exercising his right to only "work" half days due to "rehab". Been milking it for 3 months now already. If MM says it's ok, it's ok. OK?

The USDA made the rules on vending machines not the director of food service. I understand the dept. also has to give a percentage to the district general fund each year don't know how much. Also none of the food service employees are covered under funding from the state for classified employees, that's all food service employees including Office personnel, drivers, prof. tech. and the director. I love having access to an expresso and other items when I'm feeling like something and don't want to leave the building or have time to leave the building. Carol does a great job of customer service. I will continue to support this service.
